An outdated tiled garden tub replaced with a low-threshold walk-in shower in marble-look acrylic, with grab bars and a fold-down seat.
Not every bathroom needs a gut job. This one already had a shower in the right place. What it did not have was a surface that could be cleaned without scrubbing grout, or anything solid to hold onto.
What changed
- Seamless acrylic wall panels replaced the old surround, so there are no grout lines to reseal and nothing for mildew to hide in.
- A horizontal grab bar went in along the back wall at a height that works standing or seated.
- A teak fold-down seat mounts flush to the wall and drops down only when it is needed.
- A handheld sprayer on a flexible hose sits alongside the fixed head, so the shower works seated as well as standing.
Why it matters
A shower replacement like this is often the fastest way to modernise a bathroom without a full renovation, and it is the change that makes the biggest difference to whether the room is safe to use every day.
